RX 4 DISCOVERY MATH II WORKSHOP

This is a lecture and laboratory course designed to train educators to provide mathematical intervention in a group setting. Rx 4 Discovery Math II is specifically intended for students in grades 6th-8th who would benefit from intensive, small-group instruction in mathematics with an emphasis on fostering self-regulated learning behaviors and beliefs, improving problem-solving skills, strengthening mathematical fluency, enhancing discourse and peer collaboration, building metacognitive skills, and improving non-cognitive factors affecting mathematical thinking and learning.

RX 4 Discovery Math II will support educators to establish classroom contexts that develop students’ self-regulated learning behaviors and beliefs. Students who are self-regulated apply knowledge, skills, and dispositions to engage in mathematics learning with confidence.

  • SPELLING: LINKING READING & WRITING

Spelling abilities link to both reading and writing. Spelling is one of the most sensitive indicators of a learning disability and can be one of the most challenging abilities for students with dyslexia to develop. Many educational therapists are frustrated when they don't see a meaningful change in their students' spelling scores at annual testing time and want to find ways to improve their mediation. NILD’s newest workshop, Spelling: Linking Reading & Writing, enhances educators’ ability to develop students' concepts of spelling, understand spelling misconceptions, evaluate students' writing samples, and use a multi-modal structured literacy approach to building students' spelling abilities.

  • SEARCH AND TEACH© WORKSHOP

Research indicates the value of a “preventive” approach to deal with potential learning problems in the future. The National Institute for Learning Development (NILD) meets this challenge through its SEARCH & TEACH practitioners workshop. This workshop will enable educators to assess and as needed provide intervention services for young students grades K-2.

NILD offers training in SEARCH & TEACH©, an early identification and intervention program developed to meet the educational needs of young learners before they experience the frustration of learning failure.

  • GEOCLOCK FUNDAMENTALS WORKSHOP©

The GeoClock Fundamentals training is a didactic and practicum workshop designed to reinforce and strengthen mathematical concepts in students Grades K-2.   Participants will be introduced to the neurological nature of temporal and spatial orientation and will discover ways to assist students in strengthening these inner senses.   Research relating temporal and spatial orientation to mathematics outcomes will be presented. Participants will explore the GeoClock, an educational tool, and method that assists in the development of cognitive and perceptual skills and encourages divergent thinking.  Practicum time will be devoted to the creation of GeoClock lessons that can be used with educational therapy.

  • NILD TELEPRACTICE II WORKSHOP

The pre-recorded NILD Telepractice II Workshop will demonstrate how the NILD Level I (or higher) Educational Therapist can deliver educational therapy services through a reliable and interactive online platform (Zoom). Therapists who have been trained in NILD Telepractice I will take the next step in their expertise.  This training is more of a conversation, encouraging the therapist in areas of community building, gaining buy-in from the parents, administering testing virtually, and exploring new virtual tools.  Training in two new platforms for implementing Pythagoras and Tangrams are included as well.  The entire training takes place online using the Zoom video-conferencing platform, allowing therapists to experience firsthand this user-friendly and interactive format.

This workshop is designed to instruct participants how to effectively provide NILD Teletherapy with the same accuracy as face-to-face and how to use this NILD/Zoom teletherapy platform. An NILD Teletherapist License is required to actually use the teletherapy platform. This license is not included with the workshop but requires an additional purchase. Click below for more information about licensure.

  • NILD TELEPRACTICE I WORKSHOP

The pre-recorded NILD Telepractice I Workshop will demonstrate how the NILD Level I (or higher) Educational Therapist can deliver educational therapy services through a reliable and interactive online platform (Zoom). Maintaining the standards and procedures of each educational therapy session is crucial, so this training will focus on specific guidelines for how the integrity of NILD techniques can be maintained in a virtual setting. Therapists will see a demonstration of techniques to learn how to deliver sessions with the same accuracy as face-to-face. The entire training takes place online using the Zoom video-conferencing platform, allowing therapists to experience firsthand this user-friendly and interactive format.
